What tyres should I buy for my car?

In Australia, all tyres must comply with regulated tyre standards. This is to make sure that all tyres sold are suitable and safe to drive on. You can find tyres that will suit most budgets and all cars. While lower-priced tyres are more than capable of keeping your vehicle on the roads in various weather conditions, they are often made from softer materials and can wear out faster.

Lube Mobile is your mobile tyre service for Canberra and we can choose the best tyres for your car out of what we have in stock. We have a variety of brands available including Bridgestone, Firestone, and Dayton. These are the most popular tyres in Australia and have proven themselves to be excellent for Australian conditions.

What is included in a mobile tyre service?

When you book through Lube Mobile for a mobile tyre service, Canberra residents can expect a professional service completed by highly qualified mechanics. We’ll arrive on time and start by checking the work site to make sure the job can be completed safely. Then we’ll begin the tyre service, this will include:

  • A general condition check of all the tyres including the spare

  • Raising the vehicle and removing all the wheels

  • Replace the tyres as requested and perform a wheel balance

  • Refit the wheels and lower the car

  • Check that all the tyres pressures are correct

  • Tidy the worksite and return your keys

All work completed during your tyre service is covered under our 12 months warranty on workmanship. After we complete the service, you’ll have a chance to talk directly to the mechanic that worked on your car. They can show you any problems they encountered and if anything needs to be looked at further on your next car service.

How long will tyres last?

Even the best tyres cannot last indefinitely as all tyres have a limited lifespan of ten (10) years. This is because the material used to make the tyres begin to degrade and are no longer safe to drive on. However, most tyres will wear out long before they reach that milestone. Although it can be difficult to pinpoint the exact time your tyres will last, you can expect to get around 30,000-50,000 km out of a good set of tyres.

As the mobile tyre service for Canberra, we suggest performing some regular maintenance on your tyres to make sure you get the most out of them. There are two main reasons that tyres wear faster than usual. The first is underinflation; we recommend checking the tyre pressure on your car at least once per month. You can find the appropriate pressures on the sticker located on the inside of your driver’s door. If you find that your tyres are regularly underinflated it can be a sign that you have a puncture. You can book in for a flat tyre service with Lube Mobile and we can fix it before it becomes a larger problem.

The next most common problem that will wear tyres out faster is poor wheel alignment. To see if your wheel alignment is not optimal you can inspect the wear pattern on your tyre tread. If the tyres are mostly wearing on the outside of the tread, your wheel alignment may be the problem. As a general guide, you should book in for a wheel alignment every twelve months. When you book in for mobile tyre service in Canberra you can ask our team about getting a wheel alignment completed.
