Good hygiene can prevent infection from coronavirus as well as the common cold and flu.

What tyres should I buy for my car?

When considering tyres from your local mobile tyre service, Gold Coast residents should consider the type of roads they mostly drive on. If you mainly drive on suburban streets that are well maintained, any of the tyres we have available will be more than suitable. At Lube Mobile, we stock a variety of tyre brands including Bridgestone, Firestone, and Dayton.

With tyres, it is best to keep matching brands on either the front or rear end. This is because those tyres tend to work together and by having different tread patterns, the tyres may act differently in various road conditions. If you’re only getting one tyre replaced (usually when you have a flat tyre) try to get the same brand, especially if they are on the front of the vehicle.

When choosing your tyres, it’s important to note that while cheaper tyres do comply with Australian standards, they may wear faster than other higher priced tyres. This is because the materials are usually softer and therefore do not last as long. Try to find a happy medium between cost and performance, this will tend to give you the best of both worlds.

What is included in a mobile tyre service?

At Lube Mobile we are your mobile tyre service for Gold Coast and all residents can expect a high-quality service. We’ll come to your home or work and replace any tyres as required. After arriving we’ll check the area and make sure we have enough room to change your tyres safely. Then we’ll follow our service schedule, this includes:

  • An inspection of all the tyres, including the spare

  • Raise the vehicle and remove all wheels

  • Replace tyres and perform a wheel balance

  • Refit wheels to your car and lower it to the ground

  • Check that all tyre pressures are correct

  • Tidy the area and return keys

All our services will take around two (2) hours to complete, and we’ll return your car as soon as we are finished. At this time, you’ll have the opportunity to talk directly with the person that completed the service and ask them any questions about your vehicle.

All our tyre services come with our 12 months workmanship warranty. All tyres that are replaced will come with a warranty from the manufacturer of the brand installed. This will cover you in the case of any defects in the tyre itself.

How long will tyres last?

All tyres, no matter how expensive, will not last longer than ten years regardless of use. This is because the materials used to make them start to deteriorate and become unroadworthy. The date your tyres was manufactured can be found on the tyre, however, usually, you will wear through a tyre before that time. For most road used tyres on a daily driven vehicle, you can expect to get anywhere from 2 years to 4 years’ worth of use (or around 30,000km - 50,000km).

It can be difficult to give an exact timeframe on the longevity of tyres as many factors contribute to how fast a tyre will wear. The most common cause for a shortened life is poor wheel alignment and under-inflated tyres. These can be avoided by having regular tyre services completed by your local mobile tyre service in Gold Coast. At Lube Mobile, we recommend having a wheel alignment every twelve months, and you should be checking your tyre pressures at least once per month.

When you check your tyre pressures you can give the tyres a quick inspection. If they seem to be wearing more on the inner or outer side of the tread you may be overdue for a wheel alignment. For the correct tyre pressures, you can check the plate installed on the inside of your driver’s door. If you notice that your car is regularly low on tyre pressure, you may have a slow leak and it needs to be repaired.
