What tyres should I buy for my car?

All tyres in Australia need to comply with Australian tyre standards. We stock many different brands including Bridgestone, Firestone, and Dayton tyres. In offering a mobile tyre service for Newcastle, we’ve found that most people are not loyal to a particular brand and instead choose tyres based on how quickly they can be installed. We can choose the most suitable tyre for your vehicle from what we have available at the time of your booking.

If you have a preference for the tyres you’d like installed, you can call our team on 13 30 32, and they’ll let you know what we have and how long it will take for those to be delivered. For the best performance out of your tyres, it’s important to have the same brand installed on opposite wheels.

What is included in a mobile tyre service?

After booking for your mobile tyre service, Newcastle residents can expect us to arrive on time and start by checking that there is enough room around your vehicle to perform the service safely. If there is not enough room, we may need to move the car to a better spot nearby. Then we’ll begin the service, all tyre services follow this guide:

  • A general inspection of the tyre condition, including the spare

  • Raise the vehicle and remove all the wheels

  • Replace tyres and perform a wheel balance

  • Refit the wheels to the car and then lower it back down

  • Check tyre pressures to make sure they’re at the recommended range

  • Tidy worksite and return keys to the owner

All work completed by the team at Lube Mobile is covered by a 12 months workmanship warranty. Your new tyres will be covered under the manufacturer's warranty for faults and defects, the length of this may vary depending on the brand of tyres installed.

All tyres services will take about two (2) hours to complete and after we're finished, you’ll be given the car back immediately. At this time, you’ll be able to talk directly to the mechanic about any issues your car is having. They can show you anything uncovered during the tyre service that may need some further attention on your next car service.

How long will tyres last?

The length that tyres can last can vary depending on the quality of tyres and how well they’re maintained. Even the best tyres will have a lifetime of no more than ten years, this is because the materials that make up the tyre begin to degrade and are no longer considered roadworthy.

As the mobile tyre service in Newcastle, we would recommend monitoring the tyre pressures and wheel alignment so you get the best out of your tyres. Under-inflated tyres and misaligned wheels are the main cause of excessive wear. As many service stations offer free air for your car, checking the pressures is easy and should take no longer than a minute or two. If you’re not sure of the pressure your tyres should be, you can check the sticker that’s placed on the inside of the driver's door. When you check the pressures, if you notice that the tyres are regularly underinflated you may have a slow leak puncture, you can book in for a flat tyre service with Lube Mobile and get that fixed up. This can save you the cost of a complete tyre replacement.

To check your wheel alignment, you can perform a simple examination of your tyres. Have a look at the tread and check the wear pattern, ideally, the tyre should be wearing evenly over the tread. If it looks like most of the wear is on the outside of the tread you may need to book in for a wheel alignment. To keep your wheels aligned properly you should be booking in for a wheel alignment at least once every twelve months.

In our time operating as the mobile tyre service for Newcastle, we’ve found that most tyres working under various conditions will last anywhere from 30,000km to 50,000km. If you drive the average yearly distance, you can expect tyres to last 2-5 years.
